BRAND HISTORY
1975: GLOBE opens in the Les Halles district of Paris
Pierre Fournier opened GLOBE in the Les Halles district of Paris. The store is said to be the forerunner of modern select shops, and boasted a shocking and cutting-edge selection of products in Paris at the time, with an elegant display of "authentic" items carefully selected by Pierre from around the world, from the famous American jeans to European and American military items and dead stock items.
1979 Opened HEMISPHERE in the 16th arrondissement of Paris
Hemisphere, meaning the Northern Hemisphere, opened on the Rue de la Grande Armée in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Jean-Sebastian, who was the No. 3 at Saint Laurent at the time, noticed Pierre Fournier's sense of style, which led to the opening of Hemisphere. It was this store that brought folk art brands, which had only been seen by a select few in the United States, to the world, and also expanded into Japan. In 1993, the store closed due to the death of the co-owner.
1994 ANATOMICA is born in Paris, France
Pierre decided to stop outsourcing production, which had been rapidly declining in quality due to overseas production and simplification of processes, and to produce his own collection in his home country of France. The year after HEMISPHERE closed, he launched ANATOMICA with Gilbert Noos, who he had known since HEMISPHERE, and opened a store in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. The collection pays homage to his own archives while protecting French traditions, and is based on a commitment to a better fit, creating works that follow the structure and movement of the human body, with the philosophy of faithfully reproducing the details of traditional work clothes and military uniforms.
2006 Pierre and Teramoto meet
Pierre's eye was caught by the jeans of Kinji Teramoto, who visited ANATOMICA. Teramoto, an apparel designer and a reclusive vintage collector, was wearing jeans with no side seams at the time. Until then, Pierre had focused on French vintage and turned his back on American vintage, but the memories and passion he had been trying to forget were rekindled. This led to the development of the first jeans for the ANATOMICA brand. This was the moment when American-style garments, designed jointly by Pierre and Teramoto, were born.
The ANATOMICA brand's first jeans, "618 ORIGINAL," were completed in the fall of 2007 after more than 15 months of work. Pierre and Teramoto then signed a partnership agreement, and their American-style garments made in Japan through their filter became a new direction for ANATOMICA. They produced hit after hit, ranging from their favorite 1960s American taste to military items, traditional British items, sneakers, and the signature Marilyn women's line.
2011 ANATOMICA TOKYO opens in Higashi-Nihonbashi, Tokyo
In 2008, the first store in Japan opened as a shop-in-shop in a commercial building in the glamorous Jingumae area. This experience ignited Pierre and Teramoto's desire to set up an independent store, and they soon found a suitable property for their flagship store in Higashi-Nihonbashi, a commercial center since the Edo period. In 2011, they opened ANATOMICA TOKYO, and then opened stores in Sapporo, Nagoya, Kobe, Aoyama, and Fukuoka.
